The time has arrived to say excellent-bye to 2011 and let us welcome New Year with a positive note. If you have fed up with the same ancient dull mobile applications, this is the right time to try out new ones. Let me introduce two iOS apps that could help you make the most of this holiday season.

Baby Learns Colors: This is a colorful, interactive game that helps teach the small ones the names of 12 basic colors. Fascinatingly, this baby app has Game Center integration. The developers are also running a contest for the parents. They can make their own unique and personal version of Baby Learns using the Recorder in the app and share them with the exclusive community. Developers would judge the winner by the number of downloads and the degree of creativity and will award three $ 50 iTunes Gift Card to them with various other prizes to runners up. This voiceover facility will also make an element of customization to let users make a very personal learning experience for their children. This educational game has three animated skins Fishes, Ink Blots and Spaceships. This app is compatible with iPads running iOS 4.3 or later. The regular price of this app is USD 2.99, but if you rush, you can get it for USD 0.99. There is also a Lite version available for free. If you want your kids to learn while playing, this app is a fantastic way to do it. Download it here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/baby-learns-colors/id475439817?ls=1&mt=8

iCurrency Plus: Holiday should be fun and there is no need to get stressed. iCurrency Plus can let users trace the currency conversion rates from the place where they are. As it has more than 100 currencies used in more than 150 countries, users can add currency pairs of their choice. In iOS 5 devices this app shows the currency rates in the Notification Center and even in the Lock Screen. This app would send push notification if the change in the conversion rate is larger than the percentage they choose. Users can see the change in value over a period of time of their choice in graph illustrations of daily, weekly, monthly and even quarterly information. This app could be a handy one for Forex, commodities and precious metals traders, as well as others who watch the exchanges. If there is no Internet connection, iCurrency Plus will show the last updates available. This app requires iOS 4.0 or later and costs USD 1.99. Download it here: http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/icurrency-plus/id349442283?mt=8

There are a lot of games out there in the App Store. But, holiday is not just about having fun; you can also use them for learning and experiencing. As an iPhone app reviewer, I come across hundreds of apps daily. But, I get impressed by only a few. I made these suggestion based on my observation. Please try these apps and tell us your feedback at Alpha Digits.

@NorsProductions Have you heard of the Mocmex virus that was in digital frames from China? Or the little girl that was run over by a vehicle several times, and it took several people to pass by before someone took notice? How about the Anti-Secession Law that states the China will use non-peaceful means if Taiwan were to seek independence? I do not doubt that China has quality items & conditions, but I will not support any company until China changes. The way I see it, apathy is consent.

on the sigma website, it doesn’t say that the travel sized brushes are any smaller than the essential kit ones. aren’t they standard size but minus the other 5 brushes?

@sasha2687 Made in China doesn’t mean a bad thing. The most expensive clothes/whatever brands are made there too. Excellent quality and working conditions can be from China too :)

@eyes5976 The travel size are full sized brushes. The only difference is that the regular comes with 12 brushes and the travel comes with 7. Both are full sized though.

I think I will get the Mrs. Bunny one, that has 7 brushes then add a flattop. lol I’m surprised that they’re not that expensive. Very affordable for me! But I spent all my money on Christmas Shopping…I’ll just buy some in January I guess.
Thanks for the review, Emily! <3
